Tricast is our range of rigid polyurethane (PU) foam sheets with the exception of Tricast 2T which is polyisocyanurate (PIR) foam. The Tricast range is highly versatile offering a variety of possible uses. Commonly used as core materials, ranging in density from 32kg/m3 to 96kg/m3 all densities can be used as shaping media for models or GRP formers, insulation, floatation, even as a structural part of a composite. Tricast is an industry standard moulding material and used in all forms of GRP moulding. Each material density has a range of physical properties, one of which could be suitable for your application. Its high resistance to the more common solvents makes it easy to bond, fill, spray paint finish and laminate.
Trident Foams also offers Scoreboard made out of Tricast 4, 5 and 6 available in thicknesses from 6mm to 38mm. Its scoring allows the material to form compound curves when bonding or laminating.
Standard sheet sizes for all materials are 2.44M x 1.22M x thickness to order, maximum and minimum thickness vary by product density.
With the magic of CNC and 6 axis robots Trident can also produce complex 3 dimensional shapes, if you can provide a CAD model, dimensional drawing, template or even a sketch, Trident can digitise the shape to produce your component in a Tricast foam.
Tricast is Ozone friendly and contains no substances alleged to deplete the Ozone Layer.
Tricast 2 – 32Kg/M3 density
Lightest density polyurethane foam, this is a prime material usually used as insulation, in hand lay composite cores and offers good buoyancy characteristics.
Lightweight PIR (polyisocyanurate) foam with the added advantage of a Class M1, B2 Fire rating making it suitable for shaping and moulding applications with fire resistance requirements.
Tricast 3 – 48kg/M3 density
The lowest density for detailed sculpturing, a lightweight polyurethane foam especially effective either for hand lay up or infusion moulding and good to carve and shape.
Tricast 4 – 64kg/M3 density
The lowest density of the range usually used as a structural core material. Medium density polyurethane foam suitable for GRP composite moulds and panels, easy to shape, offering a stiffer surface finish suitable for vacuum infused moulds and hand lay-up moulding.
Tricast 4 Scoreboard
Has narrow slots cut partway through on both sides of the sheet to enable it to conform to a compound radius making it easy to fabricate sandwich construction. During laminating the slots become filled with resin resulting in a solid construction.
Tricast 5 – 80kg/M3 density
A good structural standard medium density polyurethane foam widely used as reinforcement in GRP tooling suitable for GRP composite moulds and good to machine.
Tricast 5 Scoreboard
Has narrow slots cut partway through on both sides of the sheet to enable it to conform to a compound radius making it easy to fabricate sandwich construction. During laminating the slots become filled with resin resulting in a solid construction.
Tricast 6 – 96kg/M3 density
Our highest density of the Tricast range polyurethane foam suitable for structural work where lightness and strength are equally important with smoother surface and lower resin uptake. Very good to machine and used in boat decks and stiffening structural areas for load bearing purposes.
Tricast 6 Scoreboard
Has narrow slots cut partway through on both sides of the sheet to enable it to conform to a compound radius making it easy to fabricate sandwich construction. During laminating the slots become filled with resin resulting in a solid construction.
